Note: This feature is available only to administrators and to inventory assistants with permission to edit product data.
Each product record can have one MSDS file of each format: one .TXT, one .PDF, one .DOC, and so on. When you modify a product's MSDS files, you can do either of the following:
Edit the product's .TXT file directly in DolphinRTK: If available, this is the MSDS file format displayed by default on the Product Information page.
Upload MSDS files to the product:An uploaded file can replace a) all of the product's MSDS files or b) the product's file of the same format only. (This is not to be confused with Uploading a New MSDS Version; here you are uploading an MSDS file to a current revision, not creating a new revision).
Note: When you upload an MSDS file of the PDF format, DolphinRTK automatically checks if the file is "unreadable". An unreadable PDF may be viewable on-screen, but cannot be printed in DolphinRTK, typically because the file is corrupted, security-blocked, or too large. If an uploaded PDF is found to be unreadable, you are alerted immediately. (To see a full list of unreadable PDFs in your system, see Viewing the List of Unreadable PDF MSDS Files.)
To modify a product's MSDS files:
Starting at the Product Information page
Click the EDIT button at the top of the display.
Note: This button appears only when you are logged in as a) an administrator, or b) an inventory assistant with permission to edit product data.
The Information Administration page opens, showing the areas of product data you can edit.
In the MSDS area, click Modify Current MSDS File.
The Modify MSDS File display opens. The Current MSDS file(s) area shows all MSDS files attached to this product revision. If these include a .TXT file, this file shows a (click here to edit this file directly) link.
Do one or both of the following:
To edit the .TXT file: Click the file's (click here to edit this text file directly) link. This opens the file content in a text box. Edit the text as desired and click Save to save your changes.
To upload an MSDS file: Click Browse... to find the desired file and paste its path into the Upload MSDS file field. To have the new file replace all of the Current MSDS file(s), select the Remove any existing MSDS formats option. (If you do not select this option, the new file will replace any current file of the same file format only.) Then click Save to complete the upload.
